ABOUT ME

Mimi Baines is a home cook, food lover, and more recently a finalist of MasterChef Australia 2016. Having grown up in Melbourne, her love of food and appetite for cooking began at a young age. Mimi’s interest in the culinary world commenced through a special bond with her grandmother in her vegetable patch and kitchen. Mimi’s vibrant cooking style is based on classic flavour combinations, textures and techniques with an updated twist.

After studying a Bachelor of Media, Mimi’s love for cooking blossomed whilst working in marketing at a multi-national publishing company, with all of the inspiration in the world right at her feet, she continuously taught herself new skills and techniques.

Making it all the way to the finals of MasterChef Australia 2016, Mimi placed fifth and was the best placed Victorian. “It was a once in a lifetime experience that taught me so much, it truly was invaluable.” Since finishing, Mimi has worked with fellow MasterChef Australia contestants from previous years, Emma Dean and Lynton Tapp on their new Network Ten cooking show, My Market Kitchen, where Mimi worked as the Prep Chef.

Mimi is currently freelancing as a home economist, cooking for privately catered events, creating cakes and has a number of exciting ventures in the pipeline.
